Department of of palliative care research Department of Health Care Sciences Campus Ersta
Main area of research My main area of research is palliative care, especially with focus on the meaning of a good death from the perspectives of patients and their relatives. Accordingly, the aim is to build knowledge about ways, in which health care can enable patients to live their last period of life as best possible in relation to their illness and life situation, their values and preferences, and in relation to the resources of health care. As a result of this research, models can be developed, that promote person centered and co-created care, where patient participation is emphasized. One example is “The model of six S’s”, which is developed by researchers in collaboration with clinical nurses. Today the model is used in several palliative care clinics and nursing homes in Sweden. Another research area of my interest is concerned with the very beginning of life and what it´s like growing up with chronic disabilities like for example congenital heart disease, and how this affects the family.
