During 2006, the Institute for Commissioned Education was reorganised to form a coherent unit for commissions where all of the fee-based courses at Ersta Sköndal University College are arranged. During its first year of activity, the Institute for Commissioned Education has been implemented and developed so that it covers all departments. This means that all fee-based activities in Ersta Sköndal University College, such as graded courses, seminars, and individual courses have been planned, budgeted for, administered and carried out by the institute.
A registrar has been established with a head of institute, administrator, and office assistant as well as a director of studies with varying responsibilities for the Departments of Diaconal Studies and Theology, Social Work and Health Care Sciences.
Ersta Sköndal University College works in close collaboration with social services, health and medical services as well as the religious community and other organisations in the community that make up the recruiting base of participants for commissioned education within the university college.
The activities of the institute occur in a competitive market where there are several existing higher education institutions, something that demands a keen sensitivity regarding the client’s wishes. By providing and offering a variety of courses, the institute contributes to the view of the university college as a multifaceted resource and accordingly puts it in demand as an associate in the development of staff competence in several different sectors.
